Project Risk Management Strategy Solutions Case Study

The Situation

We were asked to implement a Project Risk Management Process Solution into the one of the worlds leading transportation companies. Our solution implemented Project Risk Management methodology into all eleven of this organisations Divisions, into over 600 projects worldwide in over 28 countries, training over 3000 people in 5 different languages. This methodology covered both project bidding and execution strategy.

The Solution

To achieve this result we developed a suite of Risk Management Tools

• A 'Risk Management Maturity Matrix' to identify weaknesses and so prioritize processes and methodologies first
• Developed and rolled out a Lotus Notes Project Risk Management Database Software for risk register and portfolio risk management
• Developed a Risk Identification structured brain storm checklist tool

We developed leading edge Risk Management workshop facilitation techniques for workshops and meetings

• Identification and Assessment of Risks and Opportunities
• Assessment and Mitigation of Risks
• Structuring and facilitating Risk Management Meetings to control and manage risk situation in a project

We also helped this organization develop and understand how to cost and quantify risks - qualitatively and quantitatively We ran training workshops - directly and through 'train the trainer', which eventually resulted in over 3000 personnel being trained in the methodology.

The Benefits

We enabled over 600 hundred projects to manage their risks in a consistent way. We enabled these projects to make direct savings in both cost and time by effectively mitigating risks contained within their projects.
